Attorney At LAW
Marvet M. Sweis
Marvet is dedicated to being an attorney who fights aggressively for her clients and believes in perfection every step of the way. She concentrates her practice in the areas of catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death matters.
Her track record is stellar. Marvet received the prestigious Top 40 Attorneys Under 40 Award by Chicago Lawyer Magazine in 2015 and was named an Illinois Rising Star by Chicago Lawyer Magazine each year, consecutively from 2014 through 2022. In 2024, she was selected to the elite Super Lawyers List, a designation awarded to the top 5% of lawyers in the state, recognizing those who have attained a high degree of professional achievement.
Her steadfast civic engagement and judicious leadership have resulted in several honors. In 2020, two major Chicago bar associations presented Marvet with the Community MVP Building Bridges Award. In 2021, Justice Jesse G. Reyes of the Illinois Appellate Court, along with the Diversity Scholarship Foundation, honored her with the Advocate for Diversity Award.
In 2022, Marvet was appointed by Governor J.B. Pritzker to the Illinois Commission on Discrimination and Hate Crimes, where she is currently serving her second term as Commissioner. In 2024, she was appointed Chair of the Commission’s new Understanding Hate Committee, where she is charged with leading efforts aimed at increasing knowledge and understanding about hate and bias, including prevention, available resources, and rapid response.
In 2024, the Chicago Bar Association awarded Marvet with the prestigious Vanguard Awards during its 26th Annual Awards Ceremony. This special award honors the individuals and institutions who have made the law and legal profession more accessible to and reflective of the community at large.
Before establishing MSD Injury Lawyers, Marvet was an associate attorney at one of Chicago's premier personal injury trial firms, where she served as the Director of Intake and Case Management, investigating several hundred cases each month involving serious personal injury. Over the years, she received countless commendations, awards, and messages of gratitude from clients and co-counsel for her one-of-a-kind ability to listen to her clients and to get record-setting results.
Marvet sits as past President of the Arab American Bar Association of Illinois and currently sits on its Board of Directors. She was appointed by the Mayor of Chicago to serve on the MENA Advisory Council and was also appointed by the Honorable William J. Haddad (ret.) to serve as Vice Chair of the AMVOTE Political Action Committee, where she meets regularly with gubernatorial, mayoral, and aldermanic candidates.
The Honorable Margaret O’Mara Frossard appointed Marvet to the Executive Committee for the UIC Law Advisory Board, where she mentors law students. Marvet is proud of her alma mater, UIC Law, where she made the Dean's List and was inducted into the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honors Fraternity.
Marvet graduated from DePaul University, where she received a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Psychology, with a concentration in Human Services. She was inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honors Society and is a proud graduate of Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, which advocates for the empowerment and advancement of young women.
